About the Chill Pass

Chill Passes allow you to ski at up to 13 ski areas across the South Island. The flexibility to ski in the Waitaki, Mackenzie, Canterbury, Kaikoura, Wanaka and Nelson Lakes Districts is what makes the Chill Pass truly New Zealand's ultimate multi-mountain ski and snowboard pass.
2018 Chill Pass Options
2019 Chill passes were available as Chill6 and Chill 12 Full Season or Chill12 30 Day Passes. There are also Chill Travel Passes available as a shorter term option - there is a Chill 7 or 10 Day Travel Pass in 2019.
Chill Full Season and Travel Passes offer great value skiing and riding in New Zealand's Southern Alps.
The Chill12 pass is also available as a 30 Day Pass. Perfect if you're just traveling through or have a limited amount of time, but want to get in as many ski days as possible. Get a whole month (30 Days consecutive) at up to 12 mountains.
The Chill6 accesses the 6 Ski Areas in the Selwyn District; Porters, Cheeseman, Broken River, Craigieburn Valley*, Temple Basin and Mt Olympus.
The Chill12 accesses the six ski areas above plus Rainbow, Hanmer Springs, Mt Lyford, Fox Peak, Mt Dobson and Awakino.
The Chill13 (season pass & 30 day) includes Chill12 plus two days at Treble Cone. This will be released along with the Travel Pass from 30th January 2019.
The Chill Travel Pass accesses the 12 mountains on the Chill12 Pass as well as Treble Cone. Up to two days on the Chill Travel Pass can be used at Treble Cone and two days at Porters. The Chill Travel Student Pass cannot be used at Porters in the weekends.
Chill Passes are split in to Adults, Student/Seniors, Youths and Children.
Adult: Open Age to 65 Years
Student: Full Time at a Tertiary Institution in New Zealand or Australia during the ski season (proof of full-time enrollment must be shown to obtain a student pass, student ID is not sufficient proof of full-time study). The onus is on you to provide us with sufficient proof eligibility for Chill Pass rates where required. If you cannot provide sufficient proof, a pass will not be issued and we have to ask you to upgrade to a pass at the applicable rate.
Youth: 10 years - 18 years at 20th June 2019
Child: Under 10 years at 20th June 2019
Senior 65 Years or over: Student Prices apply, proof may be required
There is also a new Chill Parent Pass. This is available for people with someone 5 years and under up until the 20th of June 2019. The Parent Pass was introduced in 2016, it is available with Season Passes only and must be purchased at the same time as the Season Pass. Please note we require a Birth Certificate as proof of eligibility for the Parent Pass.
Chill Pass Discounts
Loyal Pass Holders and Families purchasing Chill Passes together are eligible for a discount.
2019 Loyalty and Family Discounts:
Ski Club Members - paid up 2018 members of the participating ski clubs receive the Loyalty Rate. A current membership card must be presented at the time of pass pick-up or delivery.
2018 Chill Pass Holders - thanks for your loyal and continued support.
Families - Loyal Rates are available for families with at least two adults and one child or one adult and two children purchasing passes together.
When you order your pass simply choose the passes you want and we’ll automatically give you the family rate - all passes on the family rates page have already been discounted from standard rates, simply add these rates together to obtain your family total.
To qualify for family rates you must still be living in the same house together (day to day - not for one week) and related by blood or marriage. The pass is intended to help out those with school age children (for example: Mature 'children' with a mortgage, two children and a dog are their own separate family unit and can not be purchased with the Grandparents who live independently).
- Flatmates are not 'family'
- 'Like family' is not 'family'
The same rates apply if you are eligible as both a Loyal Pass Holder and a Family (there is no additional discount).

Different rates apply depending on when you purchase your Chill Pass:
Keen As: Pricing applies for Chill Passes purchased on or before 8 March 2019.
Early Bird: Pricing applies for Chill Passes purchased on or before 12 April 2019.
Pre-Season: Pricing applies for Chill Passes purchased on or before 31 May 2019.
In Season: Pricing applies for Chill Passes purchased on and after 1 June 2019 and throughout the 2019 Season.
Please note payment must be received before the applicable date to qualify for the rate specified.
Students Please Note:
- If you load your first semester and fall below the full time points criteria for the second semester you do not qualify for the student rates.
- Apprenticeships do not qualify for student rates.
- The onus is on you to provide us with sufficient proof of full time study. If you cannot provide sufficient proof, a student pass will not be issued and you will be required to upgrade to an adult pass at the current applicable sales period rate.
